The Legendary Bobby Purify
with Vinnie Gallo
R & B Singer Bobby Purify, formerly of the Hit making Duo “James and Bobby Purify,” is a soulful 35 year veteran of the music business, with such hits under his belt as the multi-million selling “I’m Your Puppet,” and the most recently covered, “Shake a Tailfeather,” done by the Blues Brothers Dan Akyroyd and John Belushi in the first Blues Brothers movie. Akyroyd himself made mention of their reverence of the Purify “Brothers” in magazines such as Rolling Stone, Playboy and others.
Many versions of the legendary story have emerged, but the common thread is that James and Bobby Purify were singing at the Dairy Queen in Pensacola, FL when Producer Papa Don Shroder pulled in to get an ice cream cone. He talked James and Bobby into making some records and they went on to produce “I’m Your Puppet” and “Shake a Tailfeather,” the first two of their four top 40 hits (Billboard, 1966, 1967.)
Bobby is truly a world class performer in his own right, actually having globe trotted along with greats such as: Otis Redding, Gladys Knight, Little Richard, and many more.
Bobby Purify AKA Ben Moore received a Grammy Nomination for a Gospel Album, among his many accomplishments.

Vinnie has been singing R&B and playing Drums for over 25 years. He is a veteran of many recording sessions with artists including: Linda Rondstadt, Three Dog Night, Dr. John, and Sam the Sham. He has also appeared in concert with acts such as: Little Milton, BB King, Rare Earth, The Animals, and ? and The Mysterians.
The late Johnnie Vincent, owner of Ace Records said of Vinnie, “He can belt em out…” “He’s got soul!”
Bobby and Vinnie recently appeared on Louisiana Jukebox which airs in New Orleans, Cleveland, Austin, Memphis, and Baton Rouge, and features high-end regional talent .
Bobby and Vinnie recently released a live CD featuring the pair singing:
“I’m Your Puppet,” “Shake a Tailfeather,” and “Shaky Ground.”
Bobby and Vinnie are currently working on their first studio album together and plan to headline their R&B soul revue in the cruiseship market soon.
As a full group they are currently billed as “The Legendary Bobby Purify with Vinnie Gallo and the Soul Searchers.
