We have also some old school influences: Iron Maiden, Slayer, Sepultura, Pantera, Kreator, Megadeth, Exodus. We like to work with serious individuals and so far the ones that have been without a demo have usually not had much to show for, so therefore we'd like to hear your DEMO before we go further, either if it is bathroom singing or full blown production ?s long as it represents YOUR TALENT. We are in our late 20s and we are looking to record soon (over 18 songs in the bag) and play shows locally and out of town. There is some label interest and we have received favorable reviews from newspapers and webzines, our music has been played on radio and over web broadcast, so the band has a standing in the local scene as well as solid online web presence. We are not looking to get stoned or drunk and pretend to be the next Motley Crue - we are looking to get somewhere with THE MUSIC. DRUMMERS: The drummer should be able to play double bass like one of the drummers of the bands mentioned above. I guess a good reference point for double bass should be Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Nick Menza (Megadeth), Gene Hoglan (Exodus,Strapping Young Lad) and so on... VOCALISTS: Our ideal would be a perfect match of clean and growl, like Mikael Akerfeld (Opeth) but we're willing to listen - melodic to death metal and anything in between. Either or both styles will work well, but we have some clean passages where "death" vocals would not work. We are an established local band with lots of connections. We are looking for the right person to replace our recently lost drummer. We are a serious band and we fully intend to be signed by a major label. We are looking for someone who wants music to be their life. We have many songs written and are looking for someone who can play the established drum lines and contribute to new songs in a similar style. Must have decent kit. I hate telling people what we sound like, because there is no way to do it without comparing us to other acts, and in fact, our sound is relatively unique. Our influences are all over the place. People have compared us with Radiohead, U2, Live, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Death Cab For Cutie, Remy Zero, Dave Matthews, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Clinic, REM, Garbage. You can listen to a few of our songs at www.smokescreen.tv even tho we only play a few of those songs anymore. We are looking for someone 21-28 years old. You must have some skill. We are not looking for beginners. However, we are not looking for speed metal drummers either. If you can play the songs we have online, you will be fine. We play alternative rock. Not Rush, not Primus. We are not a punk band. There is no funk here either. If you like the bands listed above then you we will probably work well together. If your favorite band is Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182, or Sublime then we are not the band for you. We are all clean cut guys and (despite how this ad might sound) we are all even-tempered chaps with a good sense of humor.
